Some use technology to expand their knowledge, strengthen skills, and prepare for increasingly competitive economies.

Others risk becoming trapped in cycles of passive consumption, algorithmic distraction, and declining social engagement.

The challenge confronting policymakers is therefore not to wage war against technology.

It is to ensure that technology remains a means of expanding human potential rather than narrowing it.

Artificial intelligence will continue advancing.

Smartphones will become more powerful.

Digital platforms will become more immersive.

These trends are unlikely to reverse.

The question is no longer whether technology will shape the next generation.

It already has.

The far more important question is whether governments, schools, families, and technology companies can ensure that the digital generation grows into the most capable, resilient, and connected generation in history—or whether the very tools designed to empower young people will instead deepen inequality, weaken communities, and redefine adolescence in ways societies are only beginning to understand.

In that sense, the future of technology is no longer simply a technological issue.

It is becoming one of the defining social, educational, and political questions of the twenty-first century.
