Iran’s diplomacy strategy: negotiation as leverage, not concession

Iran’s advocates of diplomacy often present negotiations with Tehran as the obvious alternative to escalation. Their argument is straightforward: pressure creates instability, while dialogue can produce compromise. Yet that argument becomes considerably more complicated when examined against the historical behavior of the Islamic Republic. Kurdish Policy Analysis  /  SULAIMANI, Iraq — Flights resumed on Monday at Jalal Talabani International Airport in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, following a suspension of more than 40 days imposed by the Iraq Civil Aviation Authority over regional security concerns. Dana Mohammed, the airport’s media director, said the first outbound flight departed at dawn bound for Jordan , with a return flight scheduled later the same day.
