Abdul El-Sayed has scored one of the most closely watched political upsets of the 2026 election cycle, defeating Representative Haley Stevens in Michigan's Democratic Senate primary despite facing more than $60 million in outside spending , much of it from pro-Israel political groups. The victory marks a significant breakthrough for the progressive wing of the Democratic Party and sets up a high-stakes general election contest against Republican Mike Rogers in November. El-Sayed's campaign prevailed even after Stevens received late endorsements from Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and influential national Democrats, including Representative James Clyburn . The Big Picture of the US–Iran War: A Strategic Overview

By Dr. Pshtiwan Faraj | Kurdish Policy Analysis

Since the outbreak of the US-Iran war, I have written articles on this issue several times. Because some readers are new to this platform and it was not easy for me to gather all these articles in a unified framework.

For the United States, Iran is only a piece of the global puzzle and not the main topic of White House foreign policy. Although the details of the talks at the White House, Pentagon and US institutions remain secret,

Closing the Strait of Hormuz, a game on the world map!

The vast majority of world trade is conducted by sea, which is of course the greatest invention of mankind, so states always try to control strategic waterways, just as ancient empires fought to control strategic land points; The principles have not changed, and maritime trade is always at risk, so large companies, especially European ones, insure their goods, ships and crews for billions of dollars. They do their jobs. If we look at it, we see that the closeness between the British intelligence agency (MI6) and the famous Lloyds has always been a deep strategic relationship.

On the eve of the February 28, 2026 attack, the United States and Israel decided to launch an operation without notifying Britain, which shocked London, this refrain from Britain, led Prime Minister Keir Starmer to prevent or not allow the use of British military bases rise, and due to the lack of adequate intelligence, insurance companies decided not to insure the ships anymore, what was the result? Shipping stoppages and rising oil and gas prices. So, it was not Iran who closed Hormuz, but the United States.

Changes in the global energy market?

Contrary to rumors, Iran had no interest in closing the Strait of Hormuz, because the closure of the Strait of Hormuz means stopping its exports, rising fuel prices in the United States because US companies preferred to export oil the largest energy exporter. This is part of US policy to reduce dependence on Middle Eastern and Russian energy.

Control of maritime traffic and the dominance of the dollar?

The US Navy is the backbone of dollar hegemony. Because the world has no choice, everything is traded in dollars. The US wants to break the dominance of European companies in insurance and transportation.

Continued crisis and automatic card for Iran?

After the meeting between Trump and Xi Jinping, the course of the war changed, and immediately a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran for a 60-day ceasefire, which forced Iran to withdraw its forces from the Strait of Hormuz. Iran can sell oil, but the money does not go to the Revolutionary Guards, but to deposit accounts in third countries (such as Qatar and Oman) and is used only to buy food and medicine, which has created a major internal conflict in Iran.

At the end of the picture, we see that this crisis is part of the US strategy to confront China and create a new world divided into blockade, the US wants to control the pillars of the world economy to have a dominant hand in any future conflict.
