As tensions over trade, Taiwan, technology, and global influence intensify, the meeting between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping may determine the future balance of power between Washington and Beijing. By Dr. Pshtiwan Faraj | Sulaimani, Iraq | 13 May 2026 — Kurdish Policy Analysis "We don't have permanent allies and we don't have permanent enemies, only our interests are permanent, and we have to follow them." – Henry John Temple. The root of the current Strait of Hormuz tensions is not only about shipping routes or oil prices, but also about the final collapse of the historical US concept towards Beijing. However, the 2025 National Security Strategy, released by the White House in November, says this was a historic mistake because China used the assets it accumulated to strengthen itself and compete with the West, not to become their partner. For many years, the United States alone maintained maritime security; The fifth US ship in Manama, Bahrain, worked only to keep o...

Iran Rejects U.S. Ceasefire Plan, Escalates Attacks Across Middle Eas

Iran rejects America’s peace plan, launches attacks on Israel and Gulf states, while U.S. troops flood the region and oil prices skyrocket. The Middle East teeters on the brink.

Iran on Wednesday flatly dismissed a U.S.-backed plan to pause the war in the Middle East, launching new strikes on Israel and Gulf Arab states, including a fuel tank at Kuwait International Airport that sparked a major fire.

The moves came as Israel conducted airstrikes on Tehran and the United States deployed paratroopers and thousands of Marines to the region.

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, told state TV that Tehran has “not engaged in talks to end the war, and we do not plan on any negotiations.” Iranian state media cited a five-point Iranian proposal demanding reparations, halts on attacks, and continued control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

The U.S. 15-point ceasefire proposal, transmitted via Pakistan, included sanctions relief, limits on Iran’s nuclear and missile programs, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and curbing support for armed groups. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed negotiations are “productive,” but warned that failure could prompt the U.S. to “hit harder than ever before.”

Military deployments are escalating. The 82nd Airborne Division will send 1,000 troops to secure key positions, while 5,000 Marines and thousands of sailors are en route. Meanwhile, oil prices remain volatile due to attacks on energy infrastructure and restrictions on the Strait of Hormuz.

Israeli airstrikes targeted Tehran and Iran’s submarine development center in Isfahan, while Hezbollah and Iranian forces continued attacks on northern Israel. Gulf Arab states intercepted drones and missiles, with casualties reported across the region: over 1,500 dead in Iran, 20 in Israel, 1,100 in Lebanon, and at least 13 U.S. troops.

Diplomatic efforts face monumental hurdles. Iran’s leadership remains highly suspicious of the U.S., and Israel continues to vow targeted strikes on Iranian leaders. With energy markets under pressure and civilian casualties mounting, the Middle East stands on the brink of deeper conflict.
